Candy Corn Jell-O Shots (The Perfect Halloween Party Treat!)

A large platter of homemade, spooky, and colorful Candy Corn Jell-O Shots being served at a fun and sophisticated Halloween party.

A festive and fun recipe for ‘Candy Corn Jello Shots,’ a perfect boozy treat for a Halloween party. This recipe creates a visually striking, three-layered Jello dessert that mimics the look of a piece of candy corn. The bottom layer is a white, opaque mixture of unflavored gelatin, sweetened condensed milk, and vodka. The middle is a translucent orange-flavored gelatin layer, and the top is a translucent lemon-flavored gelatin layer. The set Jello is cut into neat squares and garnished with a rosette of homemade whipped cream and Halloween sprinkles just before serving.

Ingredients

  • One 1/4-ounce packet unflavored powdered gelatin
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups vodka
  • One 6-ounce box orange-flavored gelatin
  • One 6-ounce box lemon-flavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 tablespoons orange and black Halloween sprinkles
  • Water (cold and boiling)

Instructions

  1. Make the White Layer: Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. In a heatproof bowl, bloom the unflavored gelatin with 1/2 cup of cold water. Gently melt the bloomed gelatin over a saucepan of simmering water. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons of the condensed milk and 1/2 cup of the vodka. Pour into the prepared dish and refrigerate for about 30 minutes, until just set but still sticky.
  2. Make the Orange Layer: In a separate bowl, dissolve the orange-flavored gelatin with 1 cup of boiling water. Whisk in 1/2 cup of cold water, 1/2 cup of vodka, and 1 tablespoon of condensed milk. Let it cool to room temperature, then pour it over the set white layer. Refrigerate for another 30 minutes until tacky.
  3. Make the Yellow Layer: In a third bowl, dissolve the lemon-flavored gelatin with 1 cup of boiling water. Whisk in 1/2 cup of cold water, the remaining 1/2 cup of vodka, and 1 tablespoon of condensed milk. Let it cool to room temperature, then pour it over the set orange layer. Refrigerate for at least 90 minutes, or until firmly set.
  4. Cut and Serve: Invert the firm Jello onto a greased cutting board. Trim the edges and cut it into 40 equal pieces.
  5. Whip the heavy cream and sugar to firm peaks. Transfer to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  6. Just before serving, pipe a small star of whipped cream on top of each Jello shot and decorate with sprinkles.

Notes

  • Special Equipment: A piping bag fitted with a large star tip is recommended for the final decoration.
  • The key to creating clean layers is to ensure each layer is chilled until it is tacky and just set, but not completely firm, before adding the next one.
  • This is a great make-ahead party treat, but the whipped cream topping should be added just before serving for the best appearance and texture.
