1. Cook Seasoned Ground Beef:
- In a large pan or skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. (If your pan isn’t non-stick or if using very lean beef, add 1 teaspoon of olive oil first).
- Season the beef with ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon ground black pepper, and 1 tablespoon garlic powder (and/or ½ tsp onion powder if using a blend).
- Cook, breaking the beef into crumbles with a spoon or spatula, until it is no longer pink and is fully cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
- Drain off any excess fat from the skillet thoroughly. Remove the cooked beef from the heat and set aside.
2. Prepare Tortillas and Assemble Wraps:
- Stack the 4 flour tortillas on a microwave-safe plate. Cover them with a damp paper towel and microwave for about 20-25 seconds, just until they are warm and pliable.
- Lay one warmed tortilla flat on a clean work surface.
- In a small bowl, you can mix the 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of ketchup together to create a simple sauce, or spread them individually. Spread a thin layer of this mayo-ketchup mixture (or individual condiments) over the center of the tortilla.
- Arrange 4 sliced dill pickles on top of the sauce.
- Place 1 slice of American cheese over the pickles.
- Add about ½ cup of the cooked seasoned ground beef on top of the cheese.
3. Fold Wraps and Brush with Butter:
- Carefully wrap up each tortilla like a burrito: Fold in the opposite short sides (left and right) snugly over the filling. Then, starting from the bottom edge (closest to you), tightly roll the tortilla up to form a secure wrap. Place seam-side down.
- Repeat for all 4 tortillas.
- Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the tops and sides of each assembled wrap with the melted butter.
4. Air Fry the Cheeseburger Wraps:
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (194°C – note: recipe says 380°F, which is ~193°C, I’ll stick to 380°F).
- Carefully place the butter-brushed wraps in the air fryer basket, seam-side down if possible, in a single layer. Do not overcrowd; cook in batches if necessary.
- Air fry for 5 minutes. Check them – if you want them crispier or more golden, you can flip them and cook for another 1-2 minutes. They are done when golden brown and crispy, and the cheese inside is melted.
- If desired, brush with additional melted butter after removing from the air fryer.
5. Cool Slightly and Serve:
- Let the Air Fryer Cheeseburger Wraps cool slightly for a minute or two, as the filling will be very hot.
- If desired, cut each wrap in half diagonally for easier handling and to show off the cheesy, meaty filling.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley, if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your crispy, cheesy creation!
